Powerwell is a leading recruitment firm helping our clients discover top talent. We’re recruiting for a Metallurgist. The selected candidate will be required to travel a minimum of 25-30% to support plant and customer needs. Location: Beachwood, OH.

Responsibilities:

As the go-to expert for aluminum metallurgy, you will be instrumental in driving technical excellence and innovation for our client. You will:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in aluminum metallurgy and recycling technologies.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new process technologies, especially in melting and recycling operations.
  • Support plant operations by troubleshooting and solving metallurgical issues, both in-person and remotely.
  • Conduct detailed process analysis using tools including mass balances, thermal analysis, and lab evaluations.
  • Mentor and train both plant-floor personnel and technical staff; develop training content as needed.
  • Collaborate with the commercial team to assess customer needs and provide technical expertise.
  • Maintain strong external technical networks, including partnerships with universities, research institutes, and industry groups (e.g., Aluminum Association).

Technical Knowledge Preferred:

  • Rotary and Reverb Furnace Operation
  • Burner Technology
  • Salt Flux Properties and Usage
  • Environmental Testing and Regulatory Awareness

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or equivalent experience welcomed.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or process-intensive environment.
  • Background in high-temperature industrial systems (preferred).
  • A mindset for continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills - able to work autonomously and in team settings.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25-30% to support plant and customer initiatives.
